Electrolux EIMGD55IIW IQ-Touch 8 Cu. Ft. White Stackable With Steam Cycle Gas Front Load Dryer

Electrolux EIMGD55IIW IQ-Touch 8 Cu. Ft. White Stackable With Steam Cycle Gas Front Load Dryer
Nice dryer but use with caution
We bought one of these dryers in late 2011, and loved it: looks and works great.

Then we moved in 2013, and after installing the dryer in the new house, the lint inside the dryer housing ignited. Some of the lint must have shifted during the move, moving closer to the gas heater source. Luckily, the fire didn't cause major damage. I did some research online, and came across a class-action suite, "[...]", which seems to indicate that this was not just an isolated incident.

You need to take the back of the dryer off in order to see the lint buildup inside the dryer housing (around the drum motor, heater source, etc), and vacuum up as much lint as possible. My wife is meticulous about cleaning the lint trap with every load, so there may be a design issue involved letting the lint migrate inside the housing. We will keep using it, but will check the lint build-up often to make sure it is safe.

Samsung RFG293HARS 29 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel French Door Refrigerator - Energy Star

Samsung RFG293HARS 29 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel French Door Refrigerator - Energy Star

Samsung RFG293HARS 29 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel French Door Refrigerator - Energy Star
So far so good!
Must say, researching a refrigerator is a perilous endeavor, fraught with all kinds of misinformation and marketing hype, not to mention biased reviews on all the manufacturer websites that they've hand picked and pruned, so you never really know who to trust.

After much hemming and hawing and talking to some friends of friends in the business, we were told that Samsung was one of the better brands from a reliability standpoint. In addition, they happened to have some the most spacious designs and I had seen fewer horrifically bad reviews than other brands, so I decided to give them a chance.

By pure fate, my wife and I stumbled on this particular model in a store right before we pulled the trigger on an order for a slightly different model. This one, as you'll note in the photos, has no ice maker or water dispenser in the door. Furthermore, inside, it has no ice maker on the upper left shelf, taking up a ton of room and limiting your interior space. You also get...

Samsung 29 cu Fridge freezing our vegetables
What we like about it. Very stylish, modern looking, stainless steel is beautiful. Huge refrigerator, and no ice dispenser taking needed refrigerator room. Easy access to everything with french doors. Very sturdy build. Very well protected with wrapping on delivery so not a single scratch on it. Would have been very pleased, if it was just furniture. Stainless steel shows fingerprints everywhere, just a warning, but we knew that beforehand, and just remember to always use the handle or clean it frequently.

What we did not like about it: The refrigerator freezes everything, despite being on factory setting of 38F. We tried everything, turned the refrigerator setting on warmest 46F, freezer on warmest setting to 8F, crisper on warmest setting. Tried unplugging for ten minutes (resets it), then 30 mins, then an hour. But even with refrigerator on 46f, 2 days later, everything still freezing. Destroys fruit or vegetables in one night, frozen solid. When we went to ask...

the doors deliver with lots of gallon size room
We were amazed by the room in the frige. More fits in the door than I expected. After reading other reviews about freezing food I bought a frige thermometer that reads 38 with the frige set to 40. I do not have any problems with food freezing. One of the frige shelves folds in half if you would want to put something tall (maybe a vase of flowers) in the frige a nice option. Along with all the room another nice feature is the lighting it is bright and easy to find things even in the back of the frige. The freezer is also large we added a 20lb turkey at thanksgiving but still have room for our normal freezer food. If you need the room it's a good value and an attractive choice.

29 Cubic Foot French Door Refrigerator with 3 Doors and Integrated Water & Ice Samsung refrigerators bring innovation to both design and storage. Their beautiful and sleek design complements any kitchen décor. And, the enhanced storage capacity offers more space inside with the same outside dimensions as a traditional model. That's more room to hold your favorite drinks, party platters and leftovers. Twin cooling keeps food fresh longer: Samsung's Twin Cooling System takes refrigeration out of the ice age with dual action cooling that keeps your food fresh. It does this by controlling and generating cooling air for the refrigerator and freezer separately with two evaporators, two fan systems and precise electronic control. The Twin Cooling System maintains humidity and temperature levels that are just right so food stays super fresh. More usable space inside for easier storage: This large 29 cubic foot refrigerator won't take up more space in your kitchen. The strong, thin-wall insulation technology gives you more usable space inside for easier storage and organization. Cuisinart DCC-1250SA Grind & Brew 12 Cup Coffee Maker

Cuisinart DCC-1250SA Grind & Brew 12 Cup Coffee Maker

Cuisinart DCC-1250SA Grind & Brew 12 Cup Coffee Maker
Not for coffee lovers
The machine works OK. There's nothing wrong with it. But basically it makes what I call "truck-stop coffee." This is coffee for the non-discriminating coffee drinker. Now I'm not a coffee snob - I'll drink truck stop coffee - but I don't want it at home! I've been making coffee with a burr grinder and a cone-style filter since the 1970's and I've grown used to a cup of gourmet coffee in the morning. When my Krups Grind and Brew died (excellent gourmet coffeemaker by the way), I decided to give the Cuisinart a try because it was cheaper.

I've had this coffeemaker for two weeks and I'm already shopping for a replacement. First of all, it uses flat-bottom "basket" style coffee filters (Mr. Coffee-type filters), not the cone-style filters that are well known to produce better coffee. This info was not in any of the online descriptions or reviews. Secondly, it does not have a grinder--not like the Capresso of Krups machines. Instead, it has a rotary blade chopper...

Best coffee maker I've ever had
After having several drip coffee makers (both inexpensive and VERY expensive), this is the best for the following reasons:

- low noise grinder
- makes a full pot in less time
- easy to clean
- at a glance look at remaining coffee (can't do this with a carafe)
- reasonable price, good warranty
- Best of all, it makes a delicious cup of coffee

You Can Taste The Difference
The old $10 Proctor-Silex coffee maker in our office here in Afghanistan had seen better days. And even though we used bottled water and ground our own beans, the flavor was just barely passable. A few people I knew had a Cuisinart unit similar to this one and all said it was a darned good maker of the java. So I convinced the other coffee chronics to chip in with me and buy this as an office morale booster. We weren't prepared for the huge difference in coffee quality that we got. It was like our taste buds had taken the last several months off and suddenly returned to duty.

This coffee maker produces some of the best coffee that you can find this side of a mom-and-pop barista joint. Every pot is consistently made and always delicious. Plus it's easy enough to use that we haven't yet dorked up making a pot. The 12-cup carafe is big enough to handle the chore of serving four serious drinkers. The built in bean grinder does a perfect job pulverizing the beans...

For those of us who consider coffee not just a simple "drink", but rather, a cornerstone of our daily life and the fuel that keeps our lifes going (take it from a father of twins that runs his own business!!). The Coffee you need from the name you know and trust, Cuisinart. This deluxe coffeemaker not only helps you start your day right, by brewing rich, delicious coffee starting with grinding the beans, but also keeps you going during the day, by keeping it hot all day, (so you can keep your eyes open until you clock out). With fully automatic controls including an auto shutoff, you can program this coffeemaker to grind the beans and make your fresh coffee any time of day. And lets say that you just want a few cups of coffee (not 12!), well with the Brew Pause feature, this coffeemaker can make between 1 and 4 cups of coffee without wasting the other 8 cups. And when it comes time to clean up, this coffeemaker has a 2 piece grinding assembly, and a filter basket that are completely dishwasher safe. For those of us who dont just want another cheap coffee maker, this Cuisinart Coffeemaker is what you have been waiting for. (Description written and copyrighted by Seller GottaLoveMovies)

  • Automatic Grinder that grinds beans right before brewing to maximize the quality and taste of your coffee
  • Fully Programmable to start the grind and brew process any time of day, with an automatic shutoff
  • 1-4 Cup Feature which gives you the same quality and flavor if you want to brew 1-4 cups of coffee or 12 cups..
  • An attractive Steel trim look to complement the contemporary look of your kitchen
  • Made with all removable dishwasher safe parts, making cleanup easy

T-fal SM601003A Avante Nonstick Sandwich/Waffle Maker

T-fal SM601003A Avante Nonstick Sandwich/Waffle Maker

T-fal SM601003A Avante Nonstick Sandwich/Waffle Maker
Wonderful Waffle Maker
Purchased: May 4, 2006

It works really well. It is sturdy. The heating elements are thick and also seem like they will last.

The interchangeable plates are connected by two "lips" towards the hinge and two push-button retractable retaining clips in the front of the unit, sort of like what you would see on some built-on luggage locks.

It is easy to clean, even the stainless top. The plates do pop off easily and clean well in the dishwasher.

UPDATE: (Jan 2007) It is still going strong and the non-stick plates are still doing a good job. One problem with the unit is trying to oil/butter the upper plate because the butter or oil tends to drip inside the unit. The next time it heats up, it leaves a bit of a residue on the counter. As someone suggested, a non-stick spray may work better, but I prefer not to use propellants.

UPDATE: (Feb 2009) I'm amazed this thing still works so well. The non-stick surface is still intact, no...

Avante
This seems to be a pretty popular item since it's always out of stock. I finally received mine and have made sandwiches and waffles. The plates are easy to remove and clean. The pocket sandwiches turned out great. A regular slice of bread overlaps the edge of the plates and the crust gets really crispy, which to me is the best part. The sandwiches need to sit a couple of minutes to crisp up once they are taken out of the machine. I think the Avante did a decent job on the waffles but keep in mind this isn't intended to serve up a quick breakfast for a large family. The recipes included with the machine makes 12 waffles which will take over 20 minutes to cook. I make 6 to eat right away and finish and put the rest in the freezer for another day.

I have also used the waffle plates to make the garlic shimp kebobs recipe that's in the instruction manual. They were really good.

Also, the plates may smoke a bit when they are used for the first time, mine did,...

Hamilton Beach 70450 8-Cup Food Processor

Hamilton Beach 70450 8-Cup Food Processor

Hamilton Beach 70450 8-Cup Food Processor
A Kitchen appliance snob says 'WOW'
Kitchen supplies are like an addiction to me. I spare no expense on only the best. Kitchenaid mixers, Le Creuset whatever, All Clad this and that. But one day I was short on cash and decided I needed a food processor. I saw this in a grocery store for, like, $20. I said, "Screw it, this will work until I can afford a $100 Cuisinart." That was a year ago, and I have had no desire the replace this one yet. I grind nuts in it. I've made big batches of pesto in it. Hell, I make pie crust in it on a REGULAR basis (Making pie crust in a food processor, though much easier then using a pastry blender by hand, is absolute HELL on a food processor.) . This little bad boy takes the abuse and asks for more. If it blows up tomorrow, Ill have gotten my moneys worth, and even if I have the money for a better name brand, I would probably just go out and buy another Hamilton Beach. I'm only giving it 5 stars because Amazon wont let me give it 10. Seriously, 'Worth the Money' is an understatement.

Great for the price
When faced with the option of spending $100 or $30 for a processor of this capacity, I figured I would be crazy not to at least try the $30 (I went to my local Target to avoid the shipping fees). So far, I'm happy, but will likely upgrade in the next year or too. The aesthetic, low profile and weight are all excellent--no complaints.

I've used the slicing disk to cut a variety of vegetables with no real complaints. It has handled everything with relative ease--some smash up on the sides, but a million times faster and more consistent than by hand.

I haven't used the grating disk, but I'm skeptical of this feature in general.

The motor is powerful and so far my only problem is learning how powerful it is. I positively liquified onions the first time I tried to dice them. The real key is very quick pulses, and very few of them.

My only real problem, and the reason I will probably upgrade, is that the blade sits relatively high, so if you...

Excellent!
I was looking for a good food processor to make beer cheese for the winter. I use to just use an electric hand mixer before and realised I needed something to give it a much creamier texture.

After checking out a few differant brands and models, which I'm sure are very good too, I decided on this Hamilton Beach 6 cup food processor. Bring it looked well built, blades appeared good and strong, a good name brand and 6 cups being not to small so I can make up a big batch of beer cheese, but not to small so its not a burden to clean.

All I can say is I am extremely impressed with this thing.

Please mind, this is my first food processor, as I have recently been getting into cooking. But this is incrediblly powerful.

I really like the simple features, on and pulse, which pulse instantly turns off when you let go. I found this to be great when I'm adding touch ups to my beer cheese.

This product is very well built too. Its definatly not...

The Hamilton Beach Food Processor is good for mixing, chopping, slicing and shredding. Dishwasher safe bowl, lid and blades so you don't have to worry about cleaning. With it's space saving design, everything fits in bowl for easy storage.

  • In-bowl blade storage
  • Space-saving design
  • 300 Watt motor
  • Convenient On/Pulse dial
  • Dishwasher safe

LG 27.6 CF FRENCH DOOR REF SS

LG 27.6 CF FRENCH DOOR REF SS

LG 27.6 CF FRENCH DOOR REF SS
My prefered brand is LG, this fridge has just one problem
I like the way this fridge looks, and like all stainless appliances it shows streaks and finger prints, but it's worth it to me. If you are troubeled by that issue, don't by anything stainless. That isn't LGs fault, it's just a fact of the finish. I like that I can easily place a half sheet pan on any shelf and the fact that there are four separate drawers. All fridges are warmest at the top, so store less perishiable things up there.

It doesn't make huge amounts of ice, and the cubes are really small, but I don't have a large family so it isn't a problem for me. What is a problem is the way the left door closes. It is easy to have the mullion not go into it's channel, leaving the door open about an inch. It's true that it will beep after a minute or so, but if you grabbed your lunch out of the fridge on your way out the door, it will just beep all day and the fridge will be about 50 degrees on your return. Because I have never owned a french door fridge, I don't...

Beautiful, if only it was functional
First of all, the good part: This fridge is a gorgeous piece of kitchenware. The stainless steel looks stunning next to my oak cabinets, and I've gotten quite a few compliments.

However, it's functionality does not live up to its fabulous facade.

So, here are the bad parts:

The water dispenser is separate from and placed above the ice dispenser, so that the drip tray (even if extended) will not catch any excess water sloshed about. It also confuses anyone new to the fridge and you'll end with water all over your floor. We've started keeping water in pitchers when we host parties to prevent this. Still, we inevitably end up having to hand out towels to at least one unfortunate soul.

The ice maker is horrible. The ice cubes stick together constantly, so that you have to bang on it a bit. Plus, we've already had to call and get someone to come out and put in a new ice cube tray when ours got stuck mid-rotation and started making strange...

Great Refrigerator!
I have owned this refrigerator for a couple of years now, and it has been wonderful. No trouble at all, keeps food very cold. I like the French Doors, very usable space. The interior is beautiful with the LED lighting. The Linear Compressor is very quiet and has a ten year warranty. Ice output is moderate, but I knew that going in. It is OK for my use. My old refer would freeze my eggs. This one has no problems like that. I can say without reservation that this is the best refrigerator that I have ever owned! I also own an LG Washer and Dryer and they have been working away trouble free for 5 years now. My LG Stove has also been great, some trouble with the capacitive touch control panel, but LG service replaced it with out a problem. For me anyway, I like all the LG appliances that I own and have no regrets about buying any of them. I think people are most likely to write a review if they have a bad experience than if they have a good experience.

    GE PWR04FANBS Profile 20.125
    Gorgeous and worth the cost!
The only bad thing i can say about this item is that one of the rubber foots/feet came off when putting the item into its area. It was resolved by just putting the foot back where it broke from and it doesnt wobble or anything. I dont know if they sell replacement feet or not but it wasnt worth my time trying to get it fixed when i had it for 2 hours.

This unit is wonderful to look at and i enjoy the large size and the ability to look into the fridge and seeing all my wonderful bottles of wine! The racks only really hold the normal sized bottles and not the large ones or some of my champagne bottles. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how open bottles can still be put back into the fridge without spilling or leaking (by not being on its side but at an angle), but that was the biggest selling point for me with this fridge. I looked for others and could not find any with this feature under 1k.

A drawback: the door doesnt quite seem to open far enough to easily allow the racks to...

Great Product So Far! Quiet Unit Indeed!
Ok, so I just picked this up a few days ago at my local retailer (they had this unit on sale for %50 off) and I have to admit, this unit has been running pretty good. Now, I selected this unit based on several factors:

    1) Wine Capacity
    2) Open Wine Storage
    3) Noise Level

This unit can accommodate up to 29 bottles (5 bottles per rack). The racks have a little trouble sliding out, but it's no biggie if you like to look at the wines individually (which is my preference). The bottom rack can be used for either oversized bottles like Champagne or you can store open bottles at the bottom (they are tilted at an angle) which is great so you do not have to take up room in your kitchen refrigerator. Another thing I like about this unit, it's very quiet. When you do hear the compressor turn on, it's only audible for about 3 - 5 seconds before it quiets down. If you are hosting a party or if you have some audible noise in the background, it will not be heard...

    Great wine fridge
I've had this wine fridge about 9 months now and am very happy with it. I researched quite a bit before the purchase and liked the idea that this unit was actually by an "appliance" company, not some other company just making/marketing a product for a niche market.

Very quiet, barely/never hear the compressor cycle on when it starts the cooling cycle. Has 3 settings, red, white, and custom. External digital readout indicates the temperature stays within 1 degree up/down of the set point (haven't actually put a thermometer inside to verify the inside temp with the readout). Shelves have adequate spacing, no problems there. Nice sharp look in black and silver, and there's a cool interior bluish light you can turn of if you want to (it automatically turns off after a set time).

Got it on sale from major box store for $395 + tax, free delivery. Real happy with the purchase, price and capacity. When it's almost full I know it's time to stop buying wine or start...

Bosch SHV68R53UC 800 24" Custom Panel Fully Integrated Dishwasher - Energy Star

    Bosch SHV68R53UC 800 24
    Quiet, Efficient, Easy Dishwasher
My family recently did a complete kitchen gut renovation and although the contractor purchased all the appliances directly, not through Amazon, we want to share our thoughts now that we have lived with them for almost 6 months. See our other reviews for the other products.

    BACKGROUND
We wanted a dishwasher that could have a panel front so that it would blend in with our cabinets.

    THE GOOD
    - Very very quiet. So quiet in fact that we wouldn't know it was running if not for the red light it shines on the floor to indicate that it's running.
    - Never have had a problem with it not getting stuff clean.
    - Layout of the racks is well thought out and allows us to put in a lot of dishes

    THE BAD
I'm not really sure I can come up with something bad. Not as we stand after 6 months of use.

    SPECIAL NOTES
    1. We use either of the two shortest settings which are about 40 and 90 minutes. It just seems silly to have the standard...

Would have given it a 5 if.....
it was easier to layout items when loaded. I find it difficult at times to place items in a way that I can get them all to fit. I do not let dishes build up and then try to do more than the dishwasher can hold. I use it regularly and usually have two wine glasses on top. The design of the top rack causes wine glasses to take up a lot of space, then it becomes a challenge to utilize that rack with other items. The dishwasher does its job very well, dishes are clean (even in the express mode) and are dry without the use of a heating coil in the bottom. Not having a heating coil in the bottom allows me to place plastic containers and lids even on the bottom rack without fear of them melting. There is a green light that shines on the floor to let you know that the dishwasher is on, it turns red and beeps several times when it's done. Amazing.

Who owns dishes that fit in this thing? Stop beeping!!
First of all, cleans beautifully. Almost never have an item that has to be rewashed. Also fairly quiet. I DO like the red light that shines on the floor telling you not to open it, it's cleaning--really cool.
    But...some serious irritating issues.
The tines are arranged in a way that I can get only two rows of drinking glasses in. Any other place than the outside rows of the top rack just tip over. And the tines are spaced so close together in spots that I have to use every other slot. I definitely do twice as many loads as I used to but it cleans so much better than my kitchenaid that I'll take it.
Also, when the load is done it beeps FOREVER to tell us so. There's no setting that silences or limits it. It's like a smoke detector low battery alarm--sooooo grating.

    Cuisinart SM-55BK 5-1/2-Quart 12-Speed Stand Mixer, Black
    I'm a satisfied Cuisinart convert!
I've been a long-time fan of the KitchenAid mixer. My grandmother has been using the same KitchenAid mixer since the late 50s, and it's still going strong. I was thrilled to get a KitchenAid "Ultra-Power" mixer as a gift about seven years ago, and it worked great for occasional use. Over the past couple of years I've been doing more and more baking, and about a year ago I began making my own bread. After about six months of using my KitchenAid to knead two loaves of whole-wheat bread every week or so, it made a terrible grinding noise, and stopped working. I decided I'd better buy a new KitchenAid with a more powerful motor, and went online to see which was recommended. Much to my surprise, the reviews for the KitchenAid were no longer as positive as they had been. People were complaining about a decrease in quality and customer service. The biggest complaint was that some metal parts had been replaced by plastic, and while it sounded as if the company had recently started making the...

    WOW!
I bought this to replace a 5 qt. KitchenAid Artisan. I do a little cake decorating and I needed something that would handle large batches of buttercream icing a couple times per week, as well as general kitchen use. It was a toss up between this one and the KitchenAid Pro. I was a little nervous about spending so much money on something that doesn't have the solid reputation that KitchenAid mixers have, but I'm so glad I took the chance! This is a wonderful mixer!! In my opinion, it is far superior to the KitchenAids in almost every way. I would recommend this to anyone.
    Pros:
It handles large and small quantities equally well.
The more powerful motor is wonderful! It handles lots of heavy dough and icing with ease.
The splash guard forms a tight seal. Not air tight, but when I make huge batches of buttercream icing (using 5# of powdered sugar) it keeps in all the powdered sugar dust and I don't have quite so much to clean up afterward. In fact, I have...

    Great Warranty
This is a relatively new purchase and it has been used only a few times, but so far everything is working wonderfully. The slow start and fold features are great; it keeps flour-type ingredients from dusting the kitchen counter, and the kitchen floor, and other kitchen appliances - you get the idea. I was happy that it also came with a splash guard for much the same reason! The design is sleek, the control knob works well, overall a good product.

There is one complaint I have: the top cover which also hides the accessory attachment area, is easy to remove. So much so that it sometimes comes off accidentally when raising the mixer head if you grab the wrong part. No big deal really, but something that should be looked at for future product development.

The main point I want to make is the strength of the warranty. To have a company stand behind their equipment by giving a 3 year product warranty and a 5 year motor warranty is very comforting. Compare that...

Housed in durable die-cast metal, this stand mixer features a powerful 800-watt motor that can handle the heaviest mixing tasks. Its large, 5-1/2-quart, stainless-steel bowl accommodates big batches--even double recipes. The unit also provides 12 mixing speeds, along with a 15-minute countdown timer and automatic shutoff, for maximum precision. Choose the slow-start function to eliminate splatter or the ultra-gentle fold function to carefully blend in delicate ingredients. The mixer's tilt-back head allows for easy access to the mixing bowl and makes attaching accessories simple.

Accessories include a chef's whisk, a flat mixing paddle, and a dough hook, as well as a splashguard. The whisk aerates ingredients to increase volume or can also be used on slow speed to gently combine dry ingredients. Contoured to reach the bottom and sides of the bowl, the flat mixing paddle ensures thorough mixing. The dough hook makes hand kneading obsolete, while the splashguard offers an extra-wide pouring spout for easily adding ingredients. The stand mixer also contains three power outlets, including a high-speed outlet for its optional dedicated attachments (meat grinder, citrus juicer, blender, food processor, or pasta maker--all sold separately). The stand mixer measures 15-1/2 by 10 by 12-1/2 inches and carries a three-year product warranty and a five-year motor warranty.

    From the Manufacturer

More than 30 years ago, Cuisinart changed the way the world cooked. Now it's changing the way the world mixes with the Cuisinart stand mixer. The new extra-large Cuisinart 5-quart mixer has the power, capacity, and precision to handle any job a recipe requires and delivers more power to mix even the heaviest dough. There’s also more capacity to double and triple recipes. The mixer comes with three accessories, allowing you to mix, whip, or even knead dough. It has 12 speeds to ensure splatter-free starts and fabulous finishes. In addition, Cuisinart offers optional attachments that can be purchased separately. Each attachment connects to one of the three power outlets on the mixer (two on the top and one on the front) to let you blend, process food, squeeze juice from your favorite citrus fruits, make homemade pasta, or grind your own meats.

    Multiple Outlets Mean More Functionality

    1. High-speed power outlet for the blender and food processor attachment (sold separately), which connects to the rear power outlet on top of the stand mixer.
    2. Mid-speed power outlet for the citrus juicer attachment (sold separately), which connects to the front power outlet on the top of the stand mixer.
    3. Slow-speed power outlet for the large meat grinder and the pasta maker attachments (sold separately), which connect to the power outlet behind the slow-speed outlet cover on the front of the stand mixer head.

    An Array of Helpful Features

The mixer's tilt-back head securely locks the stand mixer into a raised position, which allows easy access to the 5-quart mixing bowl and makes it easy to attach accessories. The stainless-steel bowl includes handles, which makes the bowl easy to hold, scrape, and remove, and it's oversized to let you mix larger quantities.

The mixer has a handy 15-minute countdown timer as well as a slow-start function that eliminates splatter for the most delicate ingredients. The fold function allows you to mix in ingredients at the lowest speed with two options--continuous, to blend ingredients, and pulse, to combine ingredients. Each pulse generates 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 revolutions of the flat mixing paddle, chef's whisk, or dough hook. The flat mixing paddle, dough hook, or chef's whisk spins independently while rotating around the mixing bowl for the quickest, most thorough results. No need to rotate the mixing bowl, Cuisinart’s stand mixer does all the work for you.

    Features:

    • Large 5-quart-capacity polished stainless-steel bowl
    • Powerful 800-watt motor

Not sure which blender the *other* reviewers were using....
Alright, so this isn't the *best* blender in the world. Not even close. But it's cheap, it's rugged, and it works perfectly well at most tasks. It chops, blends, and mixes just fine (and says it can also "grate", "puree", "shred", "cream", "chop", "grind", "whip", and "liquefy"). I've never had any problems crushing ice or making frozen drinks with mine -- although I'll admit that it will get jammed on big chunks of ice (more of a problem with the pitcher than the blender, I think... it just can't chop them effectively if they're too big to fit between the blades and the edge of the pitcher, or if they get stuck there). It's also (as the first reviewer noticed) not great at making milkshakes, since it just thrashes the bottom of it like crazy instead of mixing it -- but I'll bet it works a lot better if you replace the blade with the "Milkshake Blade" accessory that it talks about in the owner's manual. Mine has easily survived several years of use and abuse, including having a...

Great blender, AMAZED at the many 1 stars not Osters fault!
People who gave this blender 1 star, do you have any common sense? The paragraphs below address most if not all 1 star review issues:

When you use the rubber gasket, you don't have to tighten the bottom to such an extreme that you crack it! Moderately tightening it is enough and it goes on the side of the blades not on the opposite side of the blades or else all the liquid will spill no matter how much you tighten it!

ALL blenders are difficult to clean, not just this one since they're all made with blades, rubber gaskets and glass or plastic jars. You would have to write a bad review of all blenders since they're all made in the same hard to clean way!

What you are smelling is not "burnt" smell it is probably the new smell of the motor along with the lubricant and it is not a strong smell at all. It goes away with time. Your saying you purchased another one and it had the same smell proves that it is normal. The motor needs to ventilate or it...

Be sure to get the one with the glass blender jar!
Before this one, I owned another Oster blender that had a plastic jar. It accidentally fell off the countertop and it cracked. The plastic jars also scratch easily and just aren't very durable!

So be sure you get the glass jar. Also, having the extra-powerful motor is good too. I only use a couple of different speeds, so I don't think more speeds are important, however.

This blender works well, however you do sometimes have to stick something in there to get the top of your concoction well-mixed in with the rest of it. But that's probably the case with most blenders.

I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because though the jar is dishwasher safe, you're still supposed to handwash the other parts. Blenders are great, but they're a pain to clean!

    So far so good....knock wood
I have had this range for a little over two years and I am an avid cook. In fact I am a brand ambassador for an online cooking site and I test, rate and review recipes constantly. After reading the previous reviews, I am hesitant to give a good review. I knocked wood, so here I go. First of all, I will agree with some of the complaints. The right front and left rear burners are not powerful, but I do find them handy for slow simmers. I do brush up against the electronic panel on occasion and consequently the cue lights for various operations will come up. I just hit the cancel button because I am used to it now. I have been very satisfied with the oven. I love to bake. The temperature on mine, runs consistently accurate and it is very roomy. All that being said, I think customer service for all Whirlpool manufactured lines, Including KitchenAid suck. I bought a matching french door frig. and dishwasher that have had some issues. I did buy an extended warranty thank god, cuz the...

    Junk!
We purchased this kitchenaid range two years ago when we built our house. We wanted a range with a gas stovetop and an electric oven. This unit appeared to fit the bill perfectly, and we had always been pleased with our kitchenaid mixer.

Ownership of this monster has been a nightmare. It broke within the first couple of weeks. The oven just blinked an "error" message on the screen. Fixing it the first time took MANY months. While this first set of problems was covered under warranty, it required someone to stay home from work to let the repairman in. It took at least a dozen visits from the repair shop before it was finally working.

Just last week the heating element went out in the oven. This is a stove barely two years old. Again, it was somewhat of an ordeal to get it fixed, and this time it was not under warranty.

When you read the brochure, this range has all the bells and whistles you could possibly want. The problem is that since we have had it...

    A terrible oven
We have owned this range for 20 months and have had constant problems. First, the oven thermostat would not work when the power burner was on. Then, the oven thermostat blew when we used the automatic cleaning feature. Now, the meat probe is too unreliable to be used at all; the oven temperature still fluctuates so wildly that a 375 degree setting will actually be under 340 or over 410 on a separate thermometer placed in the oven, and if the oven preheats at all it takes about 20 minutes to reach an alleged temperature of 350 and then never alerts you that it is hot. I am afraid to try to clean the oven again because the repairman told me we would blow the thermostat every time we used that feature. Three of the gas burners are okay and have a good simmer feature, but the front right burner has such a low btu output that the burner is almost useless.

This range has a versatile TripleTier ® burner that can handle any task from simmering to searing - all on one burner. The oven includes a variety of easy to use features such as the Even-Heat ™ True Convection System, which delivers exceptional, even cooking on all three racks - no rotation required.

    • 4.1 Cu. Ft. Capacity
    • Even-Heat(TM) True Convection System provides even heating throughout oven
    • EasyConvect(TM) Time and Temperature Conversion System takes the guesswork out of convection cooking
    • Enhanced self-clean cycle includes an energy-saving quick setting
    • TripleTier(R) BTU burner handles everything from simmering to searing

    Really, really, really bad.
I have no idea if they still make this thing, so I may be wasting a review. But, if they do... don't buy it. It's absolutely horrible. Controls are funky. Lid fits oddly and is hard to get on and off and most of all, it's just a terrible blender. Most attempts don't end with a smoothie, they end up with a soupy liquid with huge chunks of unblended ice. I'm not sure how you design a blender that literally can't blend, but Black and Decker has done it. I used to own one of the cheap, $20 Oster models from target and that thing blends circles around this piece of junk. Save your money and absolutely do not buy this atrocity.

A lot of power but dangerous!
I purchased this blender because of the power and low cost. However, it screws on to its base strangly and a bit dangerously! While trying to get it on one day I wasn't doing something correctly and the entire assembly came apart. It was in 7-8 pieces..nuts, bolts, washers, blades, etc. Just now, I plugged it in and it was already on. The clear removable part on the lid fell inside and the blades ripped it to pieces. It was flying like glass all over my kitchen. I had to close my eyes and unplug it from the wall. Though I am impressed with the way it shredded the plastic with the powerful motor, it almost took an eye! And, now I have to have something over the lid so the liquid doesn't fly out! I wouldn't recommend this blender unless you want to risk your body for the powerful motor! However, it doesn't crush ice nearly as well as it did that lid!

    It's a Nightmare
I used this blender maybe 40 times. I thew the entire thing in the trash yesterday.
Many times I noticed little black pieces coming off the blender after blending my smoothies. They are PLASTIC pieces that connect to the blades and make the blades spin... how cheap.
Yesterday, while I was attempting to blend my smoothie, the entire bottom of the blender began to violently spin around my kitchen counter as smoothie flooded out of the bottom. I had to unplug it from the wall because I couldn't reach the buttons.
I should have gotten a new one sooner anyways because it never blended very well either. I always had giant pieces of fruit that couldn't be blended into the rest of the smoothie.
Don't buy it. It's a waste of money.

Ice, fruit, coffee beans, beware! There's a cyclone on the way, and it's going to pulverize, chop, blend and mix anything that gets in its path. With the Cyclone blender, all the conditions are right. Its 475-watts of power work in conjunction with a unique contoured jar design and 4-plane blades to create a cyclone you can see, and results that will impress!

    • 475-watt countertop blender with simple push-button controls
    • 10 speed settings, plus pulse; 4-plane stainless-steel blade
    • 48-ounce glass blending jar contoured for cyclone-style mixing
    • Lid with measuring-cup insert; cord storage; dishwasher-safe parts

3-bolt hardware versus EZ mount hardware = no problem...
Couldn't be happier with the purchase.
    Here are some facts:

    1. This unit replaced a Badger-1 disposal which had come with our house when we bought it new in 2004. I didn't even know what type we had until I took it out. We had been happy with the Badger but it eventually stopped working. Doing some research after-the-fact, I learn the Badger-1 only has a 1/3 hp motor and 1 year warranty. The Waste King L-8000 has a full 1 hp motor and a lifetime (non-transferable) warranty.

    2. Though the Badger-1 only had 1/3 of the power of the L-8000, the Waste King was actually quieter. We didn't think either of them was loud, but the Waste King was even quieter.

    3. There are basically two types of disposal mounts nowadays. If you have an existing disposal, the odds are nearly 100% that it's installed utilizing either a 3-bolt mount system or the EZ mount system. If you are planning to replace a disposal that required a 3-bolt mount system (such as the...

    1HP Wasteking disposal
Quiet and fast. Has stopper that really works. Small bin makes accidents less likely, and I have not dropped any tableware in yet.
One thing that you must do. Before turning the lock ring in the final step of installation, don't forget to soap up the rubber gasket. If you don't, you will be sorry. It is not an option as implied by the instructions.

    Grinds it up
I have been using this product for almost 6 months now and it is great. After installation, I have taken its flawless performance for granted. It was substantially larger than the small wimpy disposal that came with our house, but also surprisingly quieter; more like the guttural growl of a menacing bulldog than a loud but harmless chihuahua.

A couple of pieces of advice - make sure it will fit under your sink (it barely fit under mine), and create an outlet to plug it into instead of trying to directly wire it since it comes with a plug you would have to otherwise cut out.

The Waste King Legend series 1 HP garbage disposer has a 2800 RPM motor, heavy cast stainless steel anti jam swivel impellers, and stainless steel grinding components. The WORST washer I have ever used. Uses too little water, Harsh on clothes, Annoying functionality, No delicates, Wrings items.
I absolutely hate this washer. I've owned it for 18 months now and every time I use it I regret the purchase. Here are some of the reasons I hate it.

    1. It uses waaaaay too little water. When I bought it the salesman told me that the machine fills to the top of the clothes plus 1 gallon. That is simply not true. The clothes stick out above the top of the water by 9 inches. The water level is slightly adjustable by the soil level setting but this only changes the level by an inch or two. I have experimented for hours to try to increase the water level - the machine is determined to keep the level low probably so that they can get their highest-level energy star rating. Now you may think that it is a good thing for it to use too little water but when you see how harsh it is on your clothes (item 2 below) and how wrinkled the clothes get (item 4 below) you will change your mind.

    2. It is extremely harsh on clothes. When I bought it the salesman told me that the...

    Top Loader Maytag Bravos
I agree on a number of points w/the original author. My clothing was quite twisted. Also, I simply LOVE when a salesperson tells you the water level adjusts to "your load". That statement has proven to be BS. Given these issues, I still love this washer compared to the devil spawn front loading Bosch I had. THAT machine drove me mad for 6+ years. Nothing is as good as the old days when appliances lasted 15-20 years. This is the first time I've actually purchased an extended warranty on a stinkin' washer/dryer because I don't trust ANYTHING available to the average consumer these days. Pretty pathetic, considering the cost of appliances nowadays and their nonsensical "energy" saving features. These so called energy saving features are pretty much useless.

    Maytag disgrace
In replacing our Whirlpool washer, we decided to try a trusted name in the industry, Maytag, for our next purchase. What a huge disappointed from the Maytag I owned 15 years ago. The washer is suppose to save money by using less water and result in reduced drying time. The only thing this washer does is stain clothes because the detergent doesn't adequately distribute during the wash cycle. Also, it is very hard on clothes even in the delicate cycle. I have tried every tip in the manual to try and get better results but no luck. This is absolutely the worst appliance I have ever owned and so regret my purchase 6 months ago. My daughter purchased the same model at the same time and also has the same complaints. If you are looking for half cleaned clothes that are twisted to pieces, this is the machine for you. AWFUL MACHINE....save your money and frustration. Maytag should be ashamed to put their name on this piece of junk!!!!!

Calphalon HE600CG Removable-Plate Nonstick Countertop Grill

Calphalon HE600CG Removable-Plate Nonstick Countertop Grill

Calphalon HE600CG Removable-Plate Nonstick Countertop Grill
    Excellent indoor grill!
I've had many indoor grills, this one outshines all of them! It is a large grill, with space enough for four burgers, sandwiches, chicken thighs or breasts, etc. It heats up fast with minimal, if any smoke. I love the timer option and control of the temperature. It is super easy to clean and the removable plates fit nicely in the dishwasher. The drip tray is huge and located where it should be, in the back, so when you open up your grill while cooking, the grease goes in it and not on your counter or under the grill. This is a bonus safety measure which I describe in detail later on in this review.

The cooking quality is excellent. One of the reviewers complained about how poorly his chicken and steak turned out. I do not understand that, he must have cooked at the wrong temperatures (too hot), because we've had perfect results every time. It doesn't taste like steamed anything, but like grilled food. And yes, it makes a mean panini sandwich!

    This grill is well...

Very nice - but then there is the non stick finish
I received one of these for my birthday, approximately nine months ago. I specifically wanted this one because I have had positive experiences with their cookware.

This is one of the best you can buy in this price range. It has a generous size, and gets hot enough for many things. The plates are removable, a big plus. One reviewer correctly pointed out that this grill does not get hot enough to grill a steak satisfactorily -- which is quite true. I cooked chicken breasts, boneless pork chops, bratwurst and sandwiches and it worked great. It has a cheesy plastic slider locking mechanism to hold the top and bottom together that looks like it will break at some point. Otherwise, it has a very nice look and can be stored vertically.

Okay - here it is - the "but" as hinted in my title. After less than 16 uses the nonstick finish simply started coming off. I hand wash the plates with a sponge and was surprised to see this happening; it was simply sloughing off with...

    Amazing product
I recently purchased this item from Amazon.com. I have wanted one for months (I have tried many others that were junk). When it finally arrived it had scratches on the top and a small dent in the front chrome. The handle was ill fitting and it was obvious that it was ground down to fit the right side. The plastic underpart had small chunks broken out of it. All of this was done BEFORE ever being packed. Typical Chinese quality! That said: The temperature and timer markings are small and hard to read. The knobs are kludgy and hard to grasp. HOWSOMEVER! It cooks just near perfectly. I am truly amazed at the non-stick coating; all you need is a little warm water and a few swipes with a sponge and the grills are perfectly clean. I have never seen a product like it before. I think they said the coating is made by GE. Would I recommend it: A qualified -- YES but the price should be somewhat lower. At least it isn't obscene like that Cusinart junk is. That is another story. This grill...

Thanks to its advanced OptiHeat system, you'll get a beautiful, even golden-brown every time you use this stainless-steel indoor grill from Calphalon. The extra-large nonstick plate surface holds family-size portions of your favorite meats, sandwiches, panini and veggies, while adjustable grill heights, time and temperature controls ensure the perfect settings for whatever you're cooking. Great for low-fat meals.

GE PK956SRSS Profile 27" Stainless Steel Electric Double Wall Oven

    GE PK956SRSS Profile 27
    A great double-wall-oven - especially for Foodies
This is my 2nd GE Profile double wall oven. The previous one would have lasted longer but the appliance installer installed it incorrectly. That had NOTHING to do with the manufacturer and is a rant that wouldn't be helpful here. Suffice it to say that if he took the trouble to do the job correctly, it'd still be working.

I use one or both ovens nearly every day and the temperature setting is accurate and heating is relatively even inside the oven. The great advantage of a double-wall-oven is that if you're working on a large number of dishes, and they need different temperatures, you're not having to continually jockey dishes in and out of the oven, changing the temperature, switching to 'broil', etc. Life is much, much easier. Especially if you're doing Thanksgiving for a large group, as I do.

The top oven is convection-or-conventional, the bottom one is conventional-only. The controls are touch-panel on the top of the unit and are fairly intuitive (e.g...

Do NOT buy this brand of oven
Our oven is 2 years old. We have spend $700 on repairs & it's still broken. We have replaced the control/computer panel & most of the major components inside over the last 3 months. It will not get up to temp, shuts off on it's own & the broiler will not stay on. It's a piece of junk. I'm a woman, so I'm not strong enough to throw it over my deck to watch it bust into a million pieces. I would if I could. I'm sure it's possible we bought a lemon, but GE has not offered any help. We will not buy another GE product in the future.

Accelerator (tamper) Tool for Professional Series Blender

Accelerator (tamper) Tool for Professional Series Blender

Accelerator (tamper) Tool for Professional Series Blender
Tamper is 1/2 inch shorter than Original
This tamper is sturdy and feels like it could take quite a bit more abuse than my previous one (the original that came with my Vitamix 5200).

Unfortunately, this tamper is 1/2 inch shorter than the original and it has seriously hampered its usefulness. In my 64ounce container it does not work nearly as effectively as my previous tamper since it leaves a significant distance between itself and the blade. While this may prevent it from colliding with the blade, it isn't long enough for me to make effective nut butters or ground smaller things into the blades. There simply isn't enough length to force some of the more difficult to grind foods down into the blade. I can still make peanut butter, but only if I make a greater amount, enabling the tamper to be more effective.

If I could still return this I would buy the true original from Vitamix themselves, or at least try and find accurate measurements before ordering another.

Accelerator (tamper) Tool for Vitamix Professional Series Blender
Perfect replacement of original at a reasonable price. Note to users - don't ever use without the lid in place!!

21 Cu. Ft. Upright Freezer - White

21 Cu. Ft. Upright Freezer - White
    Broke down in 3 weeks
The freezer broke down 3 weeks after I bought it. I lost all food items stored in the freezer for Christmas. The seller said they can not replace it and just gave us a phone number of the manufacturer who in turn gave us a number of the local repair shop. The repair guy said the compressor was bad and suggested that I negotiate with the manufacturer to get a new one because this is like buying a new car and replacing the engine right away. I called the manufacturer but they refused to replace it. The repair guy ordered a new compressor for me but does not know how long it will take to get it. Simply, I will never pruchase a Frigidaire product.

    never by frigidaire again
Within a year of buying my upright Frigidaire freezer, it literally started coming apart at the seams. After taking many pictures, forwarding the pictures to the manufacturer, and countless hours on hold and with customer service, Frigidaire told me that they would refund me $10.00 as part of the limited guarantee only after I had a technician come out to verify my claims, at a cost of $70 per hour, one hour minimum.

Besides now shopping for a new freezer, the Frigidaire corporation wasted my time, energy, and cost of spoiled food! Never again!

    Not as advertised.
The freezer was advertised on Amazon as being frost free. When frost appeared I e mailed Frigidaire and they said the unit was frost free and to call for service. Service tech told me freezer was NOT frost free. I e mailed seller who agreed to accept return of freezer, at no cost to me since they had made the mistake. They offered me 50. for my trouble and eventually we agreed on 78.with me keeping the freezer, which was promptly posted to Amazon account.
Mistakes happen so I don't blame Amazon or the seller, Abt.

    Pure-Ion Pro Air Purifier

    Pure-Ion Pro Air Purifier

    Pure-Ion Pro Air Purifier
EXCHANGED MY UNIT for a new one after 8 months
I purchased Brookstone's Pure-Ion Pro air cleaner for the following reasons:

    1. It doesn't require much space. The size (25.5" high x 11.5" deep x 7" wide) is suitable for my bedroom and the location I had in mind.

    2. I wanted an air cleaner that does not require costly replacement filters. The Pure-Ion Pro contains one single filter which is designed to be used for the life of the product. I wash the filter under a shower (aided by a spray bottle of liquid cleaner. A flashing LED signals when a wash is due).

The filter is a principal part of the unit and must be protected at all times. An impaired filter will impede your unit. Consequently, DO NOT WASH YOUR FILTER IN A DISHWASHER. Although the idea of it may sound convenient the reality is going to be somewhat different. For instance: (1) Your filter can be damaged as you lower it onto the loading rack. (2) Even if the filter is alone in the dishwasher bits of food (debris from previous washes) can...

Great product. But, be careful when cleaning filter!
Great air purifier. Does the job nicely. But, just be careful when cleaning the filter. Yesterday, after setting the just-washed filter out to dry, I accidently brushed my fingers very light across the filter blades. (Don't ask why; I don't know.) Ouch! Got a bad cut on one finger tip; more painful and bloody than a paper cut! The filter blades are razor sharp; a little more pressure, and I might have lot my finger tip. Keep this out of reach of little kids when exposed to dry.

    Pro air cleaner
We have this product for several years and love it and everything it does. Now we purchase them as gifts, and we are on # 7 with a lot of happy friends and family members. Highly recommend this product . My wife love how easy it is to clean.

To clean the filter, just place it in your dishwasher or run under a faucet. No costs, no mess! Isn't it time you did something about the quality of air your family breathes Order the Pure-Ion® Pro Air Cleaner from Brookstone today!

Cuisinart CSB-33 QuikPrep Hand Blender, White

Cuisinart CSB-33 QuikPrep Hand Blender, White

Cuisinart CSB-33 QuikPrep Hand Blender, White
Go for the KitchenAid Immersion Blender instead
I bought the Cuisinart Immersion blender a year and a half ago, and used it 2-3 times a week with passable (if noisy and slighly lumpy) results, until it died last week. I was pleased with my Cuisnart until I replaced it with the KitchenAid Immersion blender. This thing ROCKS. It's quieter, twice as powerful (check the amps!), has nine speeds AND a detachable blade arm for easy, submersable, cleanup. Best of all, it leaves no lumps. You can taste the difference!

Quick Everyday Mixer Makes Blending Easy
Before this handy tool, I wouldn't bother with so many things because unless it was a special occasion I didn't want to fool with the cleanup of the big blender I have had for so long. A friend introduced me to this easy to use everyday blender and now I wonder why I waited so long to get one. It is great for making those diet shakes and blending up waffle mixes and even taking a lot of the work out of homemade potato leek soup. Simple clean up too.

Sub-Optimal: Cuisinart CSB-33 QuikPrep Hand Blender.
Having been a long time user of a similar product (Moulinex Turbo) for 8 years, my old unit had seen better days and was in need of replacing. So, I made some assumptions about the product based on my experience with my other Cuisinart products and purchased the CSB-33 QuikPrep Hand Blender. Much to my dismay, the Cuisinart hand blender performs nowhere nearly as well as the Moulinex did the day I threw it away. The Cuisinart has a blade that is not sharpened. Consequently, it doesn't cut up food (like blueberries, for instance) very well. It just sort of beats stuff to a pulp, quite literally, and doesn't puree them into liquid. It also has a system of holes around the perimeter of the blade guard that just get clogged up.

The Cuisinart CSB-33 is a versatile tool that blends, mixes, emulsifies, whips, minces, and purees - and it's equally handy in the kitchen! When a stand blender or food processor seems like overkill, that's the CSB-33's moment to shine. Extra long cord gives you easy access to any part of your kitchen. 18-month limited warranty.Reach for this versatile tool when a stand blender or food processor is too big or inconvenient for the task at hand. The hand blender is compact (14 inches high) but powerful. Simply insert the stainless-steel blade at the end of the 5-1/4-inch shaft into a container and press the two-speed control. Blend smoothies, shakes, and other drinks, mix sauces and soups, emulsify salad dressings and mayonnaise, mince herbs and bread crumbs, puree fruits, vegetables, and baby foods, mash potatoes, and whip cream. Included is a 2-cup, dishwasher- and microwave-safe plastic container, or the hand blender can be used right in a pot or pan. To clean the blade, simply hold it under running water, or soak it first in hot, soapy water and then rinse. Clear instructions and recipes are included with the blender. --Fred Brack

Black & Decker GR100 Family-Sized Electric Nonstick Griddle
i also wish there was 0 star
i've had this for only a couple months and this grill is HORRIBLE headache and as soon as i can afford to replace it its going in the trash. i should have stayed with presto. i had 2 of thier grills that i used constantly until the non stick surface was worn out and each of them lasted over a year and a half before that happened. but they always heated evenly. never did i have the problems with them and especially when i've only had it a couple months and its surfaces looks worse than either of them.. not only do i have to put everything on 400 degrees to get any sort of heat. it does not cook evenly the entire center of the grill won't get hot enough to grill and the heat sensor will not only NOT turn on without jiggling it countless times when it DOES finally heat up it wont stay hot and turns off mid cooking my food and i have to rejiggle the element to get it to RE turn on.. i also wish i would have read these reviews before purchasing, i was going to get a presto but this one...

Please do not purchase, you'll only encourage B&D to continue making garbage
My husband purchased this as a Christmas gift, deciding on a Black & Decker, as a name he had heard of and expected reasonable quality, rather than buying the cheapest. MISTAKE.
He's a handyman, so when I said it wasn't heating evenly he went out to his shop and got his Cen-Tech Laser thermometer and shot readings across the surface of the grill every few centimeters. With the grill set to 400 (and the element had shut off, having apparently reached that temperature) he took his readings. At the edges the temperatures were about 360 at the highest, and about 250 at the center. I ladled some refrigerated pancake batter onto the surface, and the surface temperatures plummeted to 220 at the edges and a startling 180 at the center, and still the thermostat unit, set to 400, did not come on. Apparently, it's 400 degrees, plus or minus 250 degrees.
It's going back in the box right now and back to the store in an hour.
Shame on Black & Decker for making it, shame on any store...

    I wish there was a 0 star!!!
We have had several griddles in our house through the years and never before did we have such a piece of junk. My husband couldn't even keep greasy bacon from sticking to this. It was such a headache we threw it away. Wish we could have returned it, but didn't think to keep the box and receipt.

Breakfast is a snap with the large 10-1/2 inch by 21 inch non-stick cooking surface, with temperatures variable from warm to 400 degrees F and a warming tray. When it's time to clean-up the immersible griddle, the grease has been channeled into the removable, dishwasher safe grease cup.

    • Family-sized electric griddle with 10-1/2- by 21-inch nonstick cooking surface
    • Adjustable temperature control from warm to 400 degrees F
    • Built-in warming tray keeps food heated until ready to serve; handy backsplash
    • Immersible once probe removed; wash by hand; dishwasher-safe parts
    • Measures approximately 12 by 24 by 3 inches; 1-year limited warranty
