i also wish there was 0 star
i've had this for only a couple months and this grill is HORRIBLE headache and as soon as i can afford to replace it its going in the trash. i should have stayed with presto. i had 2 of thier grills that i used constantly until the non stick surface was worn out and each of them lasted over a year and a half before that happened. but they always heated evenly. never did i have the problems with them and especially when i've only had it a couple months and its surfaces looks worse than either of them.. not only do i have to put everything on 400 degrees to get any sort of heat. it does not cook evenly the entire center of the grill won't get hot enough to grill and the heat sensor will not only NOT turn on without jiggling it countless times when it DOES finally heat up it wont stay hot and turns off mid cooking my food and i have to rejiggle the element to get it to RE turn on.. i also wish i would have read these reviews before purchasing, i was going to get a presto but this one...

Please do not purchase, you'll only encourage B&D to continue making garbage
My husband purchased this as a Christmas gift, deciding on a Black & Decker, as a name he had heard of and expected reasonable quality, rather than buying the cheapest. MISTAKE.
He's a handyman, so when I said it wasn't heating evenly he went out to his shop and got his Cen-Tech Laser thermometer and shot readings across the surface of the grill every few centimeters. With the grill set to 400 (and the element had shut off, having apparently reached that temperature) he took his readings. At the edges the temperatures were about 360 at the highest, and about 250 at the center. I ladled some refrigerated pancake batter onto the surface, and the surface temperatures plummeted to 220 at the edges and a startling 180 at the center, and still the thermostat unit, set to 400, did not come on. Apparently, it's 400 degrees, plus or minus 250 degrees.
It's going back in the box right now and back to the store in an hour.
Shame on Black & Decker for making it, shame on any store...

We have had several griddles in our house through the years and never before did we have such a piece of junk. My husband couldn't even keep greasy bacon from sticking to this. It was such a headache we threw it away. Wish we could have returned it, but didn't think to keep the box and receipt.
