Awful - so much for higher priced Cuisinart
We use a blender about once a week for smoothies and crushed ice. We had a Black and Decker than burned out in less than 6 months, so we got this more expensive, supposedly higher quality Cuisinart as a replacement. It did a great job blending a smoothie, but it smelled like burning plastic with the first use and stopped working completely during the 3rd use - so it was promptly returned.

Also, the pitcher was awful other than the size. The lid was hard to use and it was impossible to pour a smoothie without spilling. Because it blended so well, we would have tried a replacement unit for the initial unit that quit, but couldn't tolerate the mess created with pouring.

A Real Surprise - and Not in Any Good Way!
We purchased this item in July of 2009 after careful research. We wanted a large capacity blender and this one was 56 oz. And of course Cuisinart is a respected brand.

After the blender arrived, we thought it was a little "lightweight" in the base (plastic housing instead of metal), but we decided to keep it any way. We used it for about 5 minutes on our first try pureeing some soup ingredients before it quit with a strong electrical smell and a flashing LED.

We finished the soup with our 40+ year old Osterizer and contacted Amazon Customer Service. They provided a "no hassle" exchange and we received and tried the 2nd one. It also emitted a strong "electrical" smell like a motor that is being severally over-worked (and we were only blending liquids and veggies), so we tended to use the Osterizer for smaller jobs and only used the Cuisinart when we needed to blend a large batch of something "light." Three days ago we were pureeing some tomato soup we had...

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!
I agree with everyone who has had problems with this product. Just because it says Cuisinart on the label, does NOT mean you are getting a quality product!!! I used the blender to puree cooked vegetables and make smoothies, about 10 times max. Then the motor burned out. It never did a good job blending food before it crapped out. For the price paid and the brand name, you'd think you would get years of service. YOU WILL NOT! Do NOT buy this product. Repeat, do NOT buy this product! I contacted Cuisinart and they said for about $20 in shipping, I could return it and they would fix it or replace it. Why would I want to do that? It will only burn out in a few more uses. I'm better off applying the $20 to a new blender. And you can bet it will NOT be a Cuisinart!!!!! If you are on the fence about whether or not to buy this product.........DON'T!!!!!
